Designer Phillip Lim was born in Thailand to a Chinese immigrant family in 1973, but then his family moved to the United States, where the mother of the future designer got a job as a seamstress. It is possible that her work had some influence on the later life of Phillip Lim, but initially he did not have a craving for the fashion world and did not plan to become a designer.

It wasn't until years later, during a summer job in a fashion department store, that Phillip Lim became interested in fashion. His attention was attracted by the clothes of the designer Cation Adeli, which were sold in the mall. Captivated by Adele's style, Philip Lim decided to call her and ask her to hire him. The future designer had a vague idea of ​​the fashion world and did not even know what a portfolio was, but his determination was such that Adele agreed to accept him for an internship. Very quickly Philip Lim got used to the new business, he showed himself as a talented designer and was enrolled in the team of the fashion house Katayone Adeli.

And after a while, Phillip Lim had his own brand.
